About Me
Heya, my name is Donna. This is my craft blog. I’ve been creating things since quite possibly forever. When it comes to crafting I have ADD. One minute I’m making jewelry, the next minute I’m doing embroidery, and then another minute I’m reconstructing clothes or sewing curtains or maybe even knitting! Anything and everything craft related usually makes me squee with delight. I can spend hours in Joann’s, the bead store, or the fabric place. I have a 20 month old who typically accompanies me on these trips and I’d be an incredibly happy mama if his first hobby turns out to be crocheting or dressmaking.
I live in the DC area with my son and my husband. Both are extremely tolerable and supportive of all my crafty ventures. Typically I do the brunt of my projects at night when the chicken goes to bed. I’ve pulled countless overnights just so I can finish a project. Which is not even talking about the projects that I start at like 1am. I’m a glutton for punishment indeed as still have to wake up early for my full time mama gig.
This blog was built by my awesome husband. I requested his services so I can have a place to keep track of and showcase my work. I’m still a novice at some things and am always lurking around crafting forums and communities searching for ideas, advice, and camaraderie. Sisters with scissors unite! Or something.
Oh and lest I forget about the food! The FOOD! I like to cook, bake, and eat yummy, yummy things. So don’t be surprised if I post a lot about cookies.
About the coverpage image: I love the whimsy of Annora Spence’s prints. While searching for an interesting image for this site, I came across her Man and Sewing Machine illustration. I fell for it immediately. Though since I am a woman with a sewing machine, I did a little altering by adding my own mug. Please check out her work, specifically if you like doggies.
UPDATED: 15 September 2006
So it looks like I started this a bit ago and feeling that my “about me” page is kinda outta date, but maybe still relevant, I decided to do a wee update.
Shall I break it down?
Okay.
1. My chicken is now 28 months and he has just started pre-k this week. (Sniff!)
2. I haven’t stopped knitting or making jewelry, but my focus as of late really has been bags and related accessories. (Does that make me sound like a professional or what?)
3. My hair is no longer red. It’s got neat-o blonde highlights now, though I’m seriously pondering chopping off more and dyeing it a dark chestnut. Ooooooo.
4. I am continuing my unrelenting adoration of re-purposing thrifted items. (Mike and I were just at Goodwill today!)
5. My online store is OPEN for business!
