I made new pencilcases over the weekend.
And they are cu-yewt! (That’s cute, but you know, even more.)
There are 10! Can you see 10? Click the thumbnail and you will.

It helps, as you’re watching, go like this, “blop-blep-bup-bop-boop-blop…” outloud. So people think you’re weird.
Oh and if you can’t see the animation, your computer is lame.
Kidding!
But I’m not computer savvy, so I don’t know what’s up if you can’t see it all moving and cool like.
But anyways, the pencilcases are in the shop!

Despite temps in the 60s, I still have yet to quell my desire (re: unstoppable URGE) to purchase flowery fabrics. Arguably, some can be considered for fall/winter purse production, which makes me feel better. Plus, I try to imagine my product catching on where the snow never comes and flowers are always in season!

Here I am, further feeding my button obsession.
Can’t help!
These from Allegrae over at etsy. M&Ms for Mike, sewing theme for moi. These are magnets! (Like we need more? Yes!)

Next we have an adorable group from Little Bear (AKA Thistle Town Studios). I love little illustrated animals like these.

Despite my monkey issues, I indeed purchased from the very cool Monkeyshines. This group makes sense only to me, I suppose. Frogs, girls, and my main man, JC? Of course!

And finally, some more goodness from thimble. Two of my favorite things: cupcakes and vintage fabric.

This weekend was a wash, I will grant that.
But here is some new stuff that I sewed (is that a word?) prior.
Lavender Etsuko Scene print. This is a Japanese import purchased from reprodepot.com. They are still my number one source for cool fabrics. And quick! And they take PayPal! (You can see how I can get myself in trouble.)

Pretty corduroy.

More import fabric. This time it’s Etsuko Balance. In oatmeal.

And a striped kitty pencilcase for good measure!

Shipping internationally to me was a daunting idea.
Will it get there?
How long will it take?
Will folks really pay the seemingly exorbitant shipping fees?
I’ve been shipping to Canada and that’s been easy, just a small extra little slip to fill out at the post office.
But what about other places around the globe?
With my first off-the-continent order, I figured it all out just fine.

Yep, that’s right, I sent an order to France!
Am I so lame because it seriously thrills me?
Well, yes, I am sure.
But who cares.
France!
And as if all of this excitement doesn’t make me enough of a dorkable dork, I just had to look up exactly where my yoga mat bag went. Turns out it’s about 11 hours south of Paris, near the coast, to a town called Valluaris. It’s quite near Italy actually.
Isn’t it all just splendid?

What’s good and bad about paypal?
I get mon-ay right away when people order from me. Lovely indeed.
Except.
Because of recent sales, I have a healthy balance and it calls to me.
The siren song of extr-y dollars?
I give in completely.
Typically it’s for fabric, which I feel quite good about, as I’m just putting money back into the business.
But sometimes I get itchy for something else.
I spend an hour browsing through all the luscious shops at etsy.
Ultimately I feel pretty darned good supporting my fellow artisans.
This cool necklace is from TV Tray Art Designs. It’s a necklace that was made with beautiful Japanese washi paper sandwiched between glass and soldered with lead-free solder. How lovely! And unique. I love it.
The cool little tin it came in:

The other item I purchased was the ultra-cute accordion folder from greenbean baby. I stumbled across this seller’s craft blog while doing my daily read of thimble. The artisan’s name is Ellia and she does these 3-D type paper illustrations. Each feature in the design is cut out from paper using an exacto knife. Can you imagine? It’s just amazing work. Meticulous and orginal and just altogether darling.

She even included this handmade note with my order:

Sure, why not.
The lovely managers at our building have happened upon my store and after much sweet praise, have offered me the option of putting up flyers in the laundry rooms.
So there are 9 floors, a laundry room on each.
I set to work.
Mike helped me with the design of the flyer and I really like how it turned out.
Today I spent a few minutes folding pretty paper, making business cards holders to hang next to the flyer.
It could work, right? I’ll offer door-to-door shipping. Ha!

Mike had a long weekend, so I had an opportunity to sit down and cut out more bags and accessories. Usually when I cut stuff, I’m all wiped out and won’t sit at the machine for another day or two, or more! But this time, I got right to it.
First up, I finally used this ridiculously adorable hippo fabric. I could only get one fat quarter of it though, which is like 18 x 20? Not that much. I couldn’t decide whether to do a wristlet and a hairband, or maybe a few keyrings and a makeup bag? Decisions, decisions!
I ultimately decided on:

A wristlet and a pencilcase!**
Next up is a cozy, warm, brushed twill bag with a cool striped flap:

Finally, an ultra-cool circle bag with matching accessories!

**HOLY FAST SALE BATMAN! No sooner did I list this cool pencilcase did someone snap it right up! Well that’s just cool my friends.

One of my favorite things to do is make things for friends and family.
My latest work was for our Aunt Denny’s birthday.
Denny has a dog.
His name is Jake.
He’s a pug.
Here he is:

I had no idea that I was going to be able to find pug fabric! But I did. The internet seriously rocks.

Denny initially said that she was going to use it as a gym bag, but she now says that it’s too nice for that! Awwww!
